Mr. Krümmel, born 1960, is a national of Germany, Rechtsanwalt and partner in the Berlin office of the law firm of MEYER-KÖRING.

Admitted to the Bar in 1992, he looks back on three decades of professional experience as legal advisor and party counsel in the German state courts. His clients are corporate developers, large bank and investors’ consortiums, construction enterprises, high net-worth individuals, family offices and other private clients from all major jurisdictions of the world. His portfolio comprises real estate-related transactions and development projects of any kind and volume as well as mandates in the pharmaceutical, aeronautics, advertising, car component supply, car retail and health food sectors.

In commercial arbitration, he has acted in cases involving, inter alia, real estate development, franchising, car retail and plant engineering under the ICC and the DIS as well as ad-hoc rules. Prior to his appointment as Chairman of the IAC, he was a member of the IAC panel of arbitrators.

He is a long-standing advisor to various United Nations agencies, international organizations, NGOs, foreign states, HQ British Forces Germany, the UK Ministry of Defence, the British and French embassies in Germany and other diplomatic missions from all five continents.

As speaker at conferences and author of numerous legal publications in German and English, predominantly in the fields of Conflict of Laws and EU and International Procedural law, he focuses on the resolution of conflicts between legal culture, legal language and the application of law in an international context.

He served as a board member of the German Bar Association (International Section) and the Berlin Bar Association. He chairs the Berlin Bar’s Examination Committee for specialist lawyers in International Commercial law. He is an Honorary Member of the UK Commercial Bar – European Circuit.

He was educated at schools in Bonn, Germany and Lausanne, Switzerland. He is a law graduate of Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität of Bonn, Germany, and holds an LL.M. in European Community law degree (with distinction) from the University of Glamorgan (Wales). His training includes working as junior lawyer in the corporate legal department of Lufthansa German Airlines.

Prior to entering the legal profession, he was a radio speaker, journalist and junior editor at The Voice of Germany (Deutsche Welle), Deutschlandfunk and Westdeutscher Rundfunk. To this day, he occasionally appears in German radio plays.

His languages are German, English and French.

He was made a Chevalier dans l’Ordre national du mérite by the President of the French Republic in 2013.
