Avoiding Disputes in Challenging Times

The AIFC Court and IAC Training Centre (“the Training Centre”) is delighted to invite participation at a training session on “Avoiding Disputes in Challenging Times”, given by Professor Domenico Di Pietro, an international expert on dispute resolution.

Disputes are a recurrent possibility in every business transaction, especially where there is an international element adding to the complexity and unpredictability of the commercial relationship. Businesses should devote their best efforts to prevent as much as possible the occurrence of disputes and should develop the skills necessary to manage disputes efficiently once a dispute has arisen.

This training will analyse the most important issues to be considered in building internal dispute avoidance policies. It will consider the different phases of a business transaction, from the selection of the business opportunity to the negotiation of the contract, and the management of a dispute resolution process.

This training is designed for legal and business professionals who want to strengthen their ability to prevent and manage disputes in complex international transactions.

About the trainer

Professor Di Pietro has more than 30 years of international experience in investment and commercial arbitration as counsel, arbitrator, consultant, and academic. He is qualified to practice law in England & Wales, Italy, and is registered in Florida, USA, as a foreign legal consultant, and has acted in arbitration proceedings across 10 different countries in sectors including energy, aerospace, defence, construction, and international trade. He has been affiliated with leading universities such as New York University, Queen Mary University of London, Roma Tre, and La Sapienza, and his publications have been cited by leading courts worldwide.
